ele­Qtron devel­ops and oper­ates full-stack quan­tum com­put­ers based on trapped-ion tech­nol­o­gy. Quan­tum com­put­ing is a new com­put­ing par­a­digm rapid­ly approach­ing com­mer­cial via­bil­i­ty. Our unique approach com­bines trapped ions with microwave con­trol and tai­lored mag­net­ic fields. Our next-gen­er­a­tion com­put­ing machines under devel­op­ment will be able to find solu­tions to prob­lems that are out of reach today, thus enabling new inno­v­a­tive prod­ucts and ser­vices for a brighter future.

We are look­ing for MICROWAVE/RF ENGINEERS.


Responsibilities/What will you be doing?

You will be part of cross-func­tion­al teams whose mis­sion is to enable devel­op­ing and oper­ate the world’s best quan­tum com­put­ers. You will work close­ly with our inter­na­tion­al teams of physi­cists and engi­neers. As a devel­op­ment and test­ing engi­neer, you will work on one or more of these tasks, depend­ing on your qualification:

  • Take respon­si­bil­i­ty for the hard­ware design and real­iza­tion of a com­plex large scale elec­tron­ics con­trol system
  • Design, build, and test elec­tron­ics prod­ucts using your skills of ana­logue and dig­i­tal cir­cuit design, espe­cial­ly radiofre­quen­cy (MHz — GHz) electronics
  • Pre­pare test reports and main­tain test records of elec­tron­ic cir­cuits and verification/characterization tests.
  • Help with quick proof of con­cepts and fea­si­bil­i­ty discussions
  • Help with sig­nal gen­er­a­tion and dis­cuss spec­i­fi­ca­tions with vendors
  • Set-up and automa­tion of elec­tron­ic feed­back and con­trol systems
  • Test and ver­i­fy elec­tro­mag­net­ic compatibility

Required/What skills do you need?

  • BSc/BEng in Elec­tri­cal engi­neer­ing or relat­ed field.
  • 2+ years of expe­ri­ence in an engi­neer­ing or R&D envi­ron­ment or MSc.
  • Excel­lent under­stand­ing of the fun­da­men­tals of elec­tron­ics (tran­sis­tors, diodes, op amps, active/passive fil­ters, and DC-DC con­vert­ers), the fun­da­men­tals of sig­nal gen­er­a­tion, and good elec­tro­mag­net­ic field the­o­ry includ­ing noise analysis
  • PCB schemat­ic and lay­out using CAD (or sim­i­lar) tools, good man­u­fac­tur­ing process knowl­edge and excel­lent verification/debug skills using elec­tron­ic test equipment

We val­ue:

  • Demon­strat­ed indus­try or research experiences
  • A back­ground in one of RF engi­neer­ing, Research, Metrol­o­gy, Instrumentation
  • Expe­ri­ence with mechan­i­cal design for electronics
  • Expe­ri­ence with dig­i­tal, ana­logue, and/or low noise electronics
  • Expe­ri­ence with FPGAs and real-time pro­cess­ing systems
  • Under­stand­ing of sig­nal integri­ty, high speed dig­i­tal, EMC
  • Expe­ri­ence with Assem­bly lan­guages, C and/or script­ing lan­guages, e.g., Python, MATLAB
  • Inde­pen­dent mind­set, readi­ness to learn and to apply new soft­ware and hard­ware skills
  • Demon­strate a strong dis­ci­pline for thor­ough documentation
  • Under­stand­ing and/or expe­ri­ence indus­try standards
  • Excel­lent inter­per­son­al and com­mu­ni­ca­tion skills
  • Team and/or project man­age­ment experience
